Our Story

Sunken City Cider is a young NY cidery located in Gilboa, Schoharie County. Nestled on the banks of the Schoharie Creek and surrounded by picturesque mountain views, it’s not only where we craft our cider, but also a cultural hub for music, food, and good times in the Northern Catskills.

Water, a vital resource for all humanity, is intrinsically tied to the story of our land, our farm, and our cider. At the Schoharie Reservoir, the same water that once sank a city to give life to another now nourishes our orchards and flows into every glass of cider we make. It’s the water that has sustained our families for generations and continues to shape everything we do.

Meet the Artists

Our cider labels are created by the talented Uruguayan graphic designer, Pablo Londero with help from Brooklyn-based Creative Director and dear friend, Juan Pablo Dominguez. The delightfully optimistic and humorous "Apple" character, our main squeeze, tells an adventurous story about each of our ciders.

Frequently Asked Questions

ARE DOGS ALLOWED?

Yes, dogs are welcome! We just ask that all pups stay leashed, are well-behaved around other guests, and that owners please clean up after them so everyone can enjoy their visit.


ARE YOU FAMILY FRIENDLY?

Yes. While we always have a relaxed family-friendly atmosphere, our target audience is adults over 21.


OTHER THAN CIDER, WHAT BEVERAGES DO YOU HAVE?

We sell NYS produced beer, wine, and signature cocktails using NYS produced spirits as well as non-alcoholic options, see drinks ‍


DO YOU SERVE FOOD?

We offer a curated selection of cheeses and meats, and now feature our new food truck on-site for additional dining options.

Outside food is not permitted.


DO YOU NEED A RESERVATION?

No reservations are needed. However, for large groups or special events, we kindly ask that you contact us in advance so we can help make your visit as enjoyable as possible. Reach out to us here!

Our new indoor tasting room offers a comfortable, year-round experience where we host live music, public and private events, and craft our cider. Our outdoor pavilion is perfect for the warmer months and showcases beautiful mountain views. Guests can enjoy both our open-air setting and cozy indoor atmosphere. We are committed to providing an environment that creates lasting, enjoyable memories.
